As we approach 2021, the continuous advance in technology has inspired a whole mix of colour trends. It has also triggered a stand against technology in favour of a more natural world. Coloro has predicted 5 key colours set to feature across the fashion, design and interior industries in S/S 2021, drawing upon the crossover of these opposing subjects. There has been much research into how colour can impact on our moods and responses. We can cleverly apply this science when we design office interiors to encourage different types of work in different spaces.
To counter the “always on” culture, grey is fundamental to keep our society calm in our chaotic lifestyles. Grey is a peaceful colour which helps us to feel settled and balanced. Jogging bottoms and lounge interiors are popular in grey as these are what we relax in. Grey is an easy colour as it can be paired with both bright and softer colours. Design greys into the spaces which are intended for people to take a break or do some lighter work.
Yellow is a happy colour which inspires creativity, innovation, deep thinking and learning. A softer hue has been chosen for 2021, which can be paired with neutral tones. Think of featuring yellow in the fun, creative areas alongside mobile whiteboards and multi-use blocks.
The colour which truly merges the digital and the natural. The digital blue (think of the blue light from screens) triggers focus and clarity. In nature, blue also evokes thoughts of calm waters. This colour works best when blocked top to toe or tonally with pops of navy and electric cobalt. Try this in the meeting rooms.
