Cambourne Park Science & Technology Campus combines both lab and office space over 10,000 sq. ft., meeting the growing demand for flexible, leasable lab space in the Cambridge and Oxford regions. Working with architects Fairhursts Design Group and contractors 8build, alongside CHC LAB International, our joint T-A Labs venture for lab furniture, we delivered an adaptable space for future laboratory tenants.

Furniture Considerations for a Sustainable Future

Sustainability played a pivotal role in the design and execution of Cambourne Park Labs. T-A Labs prioritised recycled materials, selecting office furniture with notable sustainability credentials. For instance, the Frovi Era Meeting Chair features a metal wire frame and is upholstered in Agua VerdEco, a fabric containing 30.6% recycled content. The chair is 71% recyclable with a carbon footprint of 26.4kg CO2. Another example is the Flokk HÅG Capisco Puls 8010 Stool, which is made from 39% recycled materials and is 99% recyclable at the end of its life, with a carbon footprint of 39.4 kg CO2e. It is also GREENGUARD Gold certified, ensuring a healthy indoor air quality.

In addition to the sustainable furniture choices, the project achieved Fitwel accreditation, aligning with the client’s sustainability goals and demonstrating a commitment to creating healthier, more sustainable workspaces. Through the use of responsibly sourced and recycled materials, the Cambourne Park Labs project exemplifies how eco-conscious design can be integrated into both lab and office spaces.

Precision in Procurement

A key challenge during the project was managing the precise measurements required for the lab furniture. On-site adjustments were necessary, with our installation team carefully fine-tuning the lab furniture to fit.

In addition to furniture and lab design consultancy and project management, we ensured seamless storage and delivery throughout the project. Our Cambridge warehouse’s proximity to the site facilitated a notably smooth logistics process, with careful quality checks and timely delivery of furniture.

A Trusted Partnership

The client praised our ability to provide a seamless solution for both lab and office furniture, meeting their requirement for adaptable, high-quality spaces. Cambourne Park Labs is a successful example of how T-A Labs can meet the needs of both lab and office environments, combining precise design, sustainability, and seamless logistics to deliver a space that benefits both the client and future tenants.
