A global pharmaceutical company’s move into a new office in Berlin’s AM Tacheles district, a hub of arts and culture, was an opportunity to create a workspace that prioritised employee wellbeing and high-quality design. The project, led by Gensler Architects, was highly structured with clear specifications on brands, materials, and furnishings. We played a key role in ensuring seamless execution through expert furniture consultancy, procurement, and project management.
Curated Furniture Selections
The workspace was designed to reflect the company’s commitment to innovation and employee satisfaction. With a predominantly open plan layout, the furniture selection played a crucial role in creating diverse, comfortable spaces that support productivity while maintaining a dynamic and flexible environment.
Comfortable collaborative zones were created through the use of lounge seating and adaptable tables. Individual workstations were equipped with Haworth Fern Task Chairs, renowned for their ergonomic excellence, with many chairs repurposed to reduce waste and extend the lifecycle of the high-quality chairs. For quiet, focused work, ‘huddle rooms’ were designed with Muuto Sofas, Herman Miller Cross Hatch chairs, and Impact Acoustic panels in light blue. Additional private spaces included dedicated quiet rooms furnished with Pedrali Buddyhub walled chairs, offering both privacy and comfort.
Enhancing Employee Wellbeing
Employee wellbeing was central to the project’s design, ensuring that the workspace not only supported productivity but also fostered a sense of comfort and balance. Dedicated wellness spaces were integrated into the design, including a Wellness and Mothers’ Room, furnished with plush Brunner lounge chairs and ottomans, providing a retreat for relaxation. The Renew Room, designed to offer employees a space to recharge, featured the Hay Mags Soft 3-seater sofa, creating a comfortable, restorative environment.
Incorporating soft seating, ergonomic furniture, and biophilic elements throughout the space cultivated a workplace where employees could collaborate, focus, and recharge effectively resulting in an inspiring and adaptable office environment.
Delivering a Seamless Transformation
To ensure a seamless transition into the new office, Tsunami Axis provided storage, warehousing, and move management, ensuring every aspect from procurement to installation was expertly handled.
As with many large-scale projects, time constraints posed challenges, while working with new suppliers required careful risk management. Through careful coordination and meticulous execution, we successfully delivered the project on time and in full accordance with Gensler’s vision.
