Working alongside CSMM, Tsunami Axis delivered the furniture procurement and project management for two contemporary workplaces for international law firm Ashurst in Munich and Frankfurt. Delivered almost simultaneously, the projects required a coordinated approach that maintained consistency across both offices while responding to the specific operational and spatial requirements of each location.
In Munich, Ashurst relocated to the listed Herzog Max building in the city centre, creating a new workplace within a distinctive historic setting. In Frankfurt, the firm remained within the Opernturm, undertaking a phased refurbishment across three occupied floors to minimise disruption to day-to-day operations. Across both locations, the furniture scheme played an important role in reinforcing a shared workplace identity, balancing professionalism, flexibility and the employee experience.
Delivering Consistency Across Cities
Although each office responded to its own architectural context, the underlying furniture strategy remained consistent. Working closely with CSMM and the client team, we coordinated product selection, procurement and delivery to ensure both workplaces reflected the same design principles while accommodating local requirements.
A key part of the process was extensive product evaluation. Multiple task chair mock-ups were arranged, allowing employees to trial a range of ergonomic options before final selections were made. This user-led approach resulted in different task chair specifications for each office, ensuring the furniture responded to the preferences of each team while maintaining a consistent overall workplace experience.
Height-adjustable workstations, meeting environments and collaboration spaces were carefully coordinated to create workplaces that support both focused legal work and everyday interaction.
Coordinating a Complex Delivery Programme
Delivering two projects concurrently required close collaboration between the project team, local suppliers and the wider consultant group. Dedicated local project management ensured clear communication throughout procurement, warehousing, delivery and installation, helping maintain programme certainty across both locations.
In Frankfurt, the phased refurbishment programme added another layer of complexity, with works carefully sequenced across the 24th, 25th and 26th floors while the office remained operational. In Munich, logistics were carefully managed within the constraints of a listed city centre building.
The completed workplaces demonstrate how consistent procurement, technical coordination and local delivery expertise can successfully support multi-location workplace programmes, translating a shared design vision into two distinctive offices that reflect both Ashurst’s brand and the character of their respective locations.
