Unity Campus is a thriving hub for life science and innovation businesses in Cambridge, bringing pioneering organisations together within purpose-built laboratory and office environments. Among them is a fast-growing biotech company developing next-generation genetic medicines.
Tsunami Axis supported the project through the supply and installation of the initial furniture solution, working alongside Parkeray on the delivery of the original design and build fit-out. As the client’s business and team grew rapidly, a carefully considered second phase of office furniture planning was required.
Designing to Maximise Space
With around 50 people accommodated within approximately 4,330 sq ft of office space, the project demanded a highly efficient approach to workspace planning. Our furniture consultants and design team worked closely with the client to test and refine multiple layout options, balancing increased desking, acoustic pods, storage, meeting rooms, director offices and collaboration areas within a constrained footprint. The final scheme aligned with the existing fit-out, using an earthy, natural palette with warm rust and orange tones to maintain visual continuity while supporting a focused, high-performance environment.
Furniture Solutions That Work Harder
A furniture-led approach ensured every element worked harder within the space. Spacestor Palisade shelving forms a subtle divider at the entrance, while acoustic pods have become an integral part of daily working patterns. One pod was further adapted with a bespoke table leg solution to support a lay-down wellbeing space, illustrating how intelligent specification can unlock additional value. Existing lockers and furniture were retained and redistributed, requiring close on-site coordination to deliver a high-quality finish.
