Following the merger of Howden Group and RK Harrison, the business required a new London headquarters that would bring together multiple teams within a state-of-the-art workplace designed to support its global operations. Appointed by MCM Architecture during the tender stage, Tsunami Axis was selected to provide specialist furniture consultancy services across this large and multifaceted project.
Furniture Strategy and Specification
From the outset, we worked closely with MCM Architecture and key project stakeholders to develop a furniture strategy that aligned with the client’s operational requirements, workplace culture, and design aspirations. Our involvement extended beyond product specification, encompassing furniture selection, procurement and project management throughout of the project.
Tailored Client Environments
Working collaboratively with the client team, we facilitated workshops and focus groups to understand user needs and gather valuable feedback. To support the decision-making process, we arranged showroom visits, coordinated product mock-ups and presented a broad range of furniture solutions from leading manufacturers. Once the core product selections had been agreed, we guided the selection of fabrics, finishes and materials, providing samples from more than 50 manufacturers to ensure the final choices complemented the overall interior design vision.
A key feature of the project was the delivery of a series of bespoke client meeting suites. In partnership with our supply chain and the appointed AV contractor, we developed integrated furniture and technology solutions tailored to each space. Every meeting suite was individually designed to create a distinctive client experience whilst maintaining a consistent aesthetic throughout the headquarters.
Delivering Across Six floors
The project also presented significant logistical challenges, with furniture installations required across six floors within a busy London building that had strict access restrictions. Through careful planning, coordination and stakeholder management, the installation programme was delivered efficiently and in line with the overall project schedule.
The completed headquarters successfully brought together Howden Group’s London operations within a modern, collaborative workplace, providing employees and visitors with an environment that reflects the scale, ambition and global reach of the business.
